The four-piece alternative rock band Maximo Park returned to Cardiff’s Tramshed as part of their 2017 tour, in support of their fifth studio album Too Much Information. Despite having an emergency operation at the start of the tour, frontman Paul Smith soldiered on. He sported his signature trilby, and was as animated and acrobatic as usual – nobody would’ve thought he was under the knife a few weeks ago! The evening certainly was a sellout – the crowd was pumped full of energy, actively engaged and responsive. With robotic dance moves and crowd-pleasing electronic tunes, Maximo Park haven’t changed their ways since their movement into the spotlight in the early noughties. At £18, the tickets certainly were a steal for a night of incredible live music and nostalgia. If this tour was anything to go by, their European leg in September should be a blast.
